Grandmas... Can't live with em... Can't live without em...

I absolutely love my mother, but sometimes the whole grandma (my mom is called Nima) role is rather annoying. I know that it's the grandparents job to spoil their grandchildren wrotten, but can we at least do it in moderations?

My mom was in town today for two reasons: to bring her cat to the vet to get fixed and to deliver a kitten to one of my co-workers. Well since she left around 3pm to go get her cat, she left the kitten at my house for Yelena to pick up after work. All fine and dandy... a few hours with the kitten in my house would be fine.

Now for a lil backround... Wednesdays are the days that I pick up Malachi from his father's house. This in turn means a lot actually. For starters I don't get off until 6pm, so by the time I get all the way over to Matt's house and then home, it's damn near 7pm. Which means I have approximately one hour to make dinner, eat, socialize with Chi, get him in the bath, teeth brushed, jammies on, bed time story, and finally bed. Which leaves me with just enough time to fall on the couch and possibly enjoy one of my shows before I crash myself. Wednesdays also mean cranky Malachi. For some reason, he always comes home from his dad's upset. (A whole other story) All of this added up results in not so great Wednesday evenings.

So anyways... back to my point... So we stroll into the house around 7 and what does Chi see? A kitten sitting in our livingroom. His face looked like Christmas morning. My mom had turned my son into an animal lover, which is GREAT. Except that she tries to pon off her animal's bastard children and whatever else she may come across on us. I have a dog. I love him. He is all I need right now. When I'm ready for any additional animal family members I'll shop around.

Immediately Malachi wants to call his Nima to tell her all about the kitten in our house, so I dial and away he goes. Meanwhile, Yelena shows up and wisks the kitten away. Next thing I know Chi says, "Mommy, I want a kitty, can I have a kitty? Please? PaPaPlease?" Great. Thanks mom. I know this isn't going to end well. Of course the answer is NO and of course Malachi decides to throw a tantrum. Great. As if I needed any additional help to my not so great Wednesday nights. Thanks mom. New rule... No phone calls to Nima Wednesday nights :o)
