Oh how I have missed horseback riding!

Today, Chi and I got invited to go horseback riding with my long time friend Candice at the Henderson arena. She has been trying to get us to join her for a while now and today nothing was standing in our way. Malachi was very excited not only to horseback ride, but to see Candice and Derek too!
Candice was saddling one of the horses and I of course felt obligated to help with the other. It had been so long since I had done any of the tasks that involve prepping a horse
to be ridden. Believe it or not, there are. Things like, brushing them down, cleaning out their hooves, blanket, saddle, girth, boots, bridle, and so on...
So, now it was time to saddle up. HA! I think I should have stretc
hed first! All I can say is no wonder I kept in such great effortless shape in high school. Well it started to sprinkle a little bit and anyone who knows animals, knows that they tend to act a little out when the weather is a little off. Of course my horse decided to do a little acting of her own. Apparently she had been a little sore. Well I'll tell ya, tonight she was feeling great! So great that she felt it necessary to do a little hop skip and a jump every so often. I think I pulled a hamstring. Seriously should have stretched! Pathetic I am.
Anyways, after she got some of her corks out and I managed to hang on, Malachi joined me for a lap around the arena. He loved it! It's started to rain harder and get a lot colder so we called it the night. We will definitely have to join Ms. Candice again. Too much fun!
While dressing down the horses and getting them fed and watered, Chi got his first taste of roping! It was sooo cute and sooo wonderful to see his interest. I love it!

One word...JEALOUS! That looks like so much fun! The picture of Chi holding the lasso is a keeper!
What fun! You can see it in your faces that you're having a blast. It has been over 20 years since I've been on a horse, so I'd have to be hospitalized for a week if I rode one now.
What fun. Lotta work before riding. The Duke didn't do all that before he rode. ha (loved the t-ball videos)
