Fun At Work

So it all starts with Carol giving us gifts this morning. Ok, so it wasn't a gift. It was the LVMPD new edition phone book. YAY! As Yelena was browsing thru one, she came across the name Lola.
(her last name will be left out of security reasons... haha, but it did start with a L - which is what made it funny. Guess you had to be there!)
Almost immediately Copacabana by Barry Manilow came to minds and it was sang aloud. I think first by miss Yelena. But we only got as far as "Her name was Lola, she was a show girl..." We couldn't remember the rest of the song.
So shorty after Diane, Yelena, and I headed out to lunch. Again in the car, "Her name was Lola, she was a show girl...da da da de de da la la la la la". We ate lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, I great place if I do say so myself. All you can eat salad, soup, and pasta. Then you even get soft served ice cream!!! We, however, take it to the next level and get a warm brownie from the bakery area and then top it with ice cream and other things like caramel, hot fudge, nuts, sprinkles.... It's really YUMMY!! And again out of one of our mouths, "Her name was Lola, She was a show girl... she da di de da da da la la da la la la..." Still no continuation of the song.
So we had a little time to spare so we took a quick trip over to DSW. While I was browsing one of my favorite things in life, shoes, I started to sing/hum to myself. "Her name was Lola, she was a show girl, with la la in her hair, bop la da la da da.." I soon found Yelena and told her my memories findings. She continued, "With da ribbon in her hair, la de da da la da". The next time it came out it was, "Her name was Lola, she was a show girl, with da ribbon in her hair and a dress cut down to there." YAY! We somewhat knew the lyrics!
So we made our way back to the office where Yelena broke out the IPod and we listened and nodded to each other, yeah.. those are the lyrics. A couple of hours later I receive a WONDERFUL email. Yelena wrote an alternative version of the song for me! It's great! And the whole point of this story was so I could share it with you!
Copacabana By Yelena
Her name was Dallas,
She worked in intel.
Sending subpoenas everywhere
And without a single care.
She would submit to DARTS
And show us all her smarts
And while she tried to be an intel star
"Dad" would be preaching from a far
Across the crowded floor
She wanted to work from 8 til 4
But she had so much fun
She found ways to get things done
At the Vegas,
Las Vegas DO,
Fighting drug dealers
and low lifes
At the Vegas,
Las Vegas DO
Sixes and Quick Checks
were always the pre-req
In Las Vegas,
they had good times…….
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I LOVE IT YELENA!! THANK YOU!!

Glad you liked it!! Trust me, there is more where that came from. I think my best remake ever was changing the theme to "Flashdance" to be about bowling.
