Why Don't People RSVP Anymore???

As I brought up in my previous post, why don't people RSVP anymore? Candice's baby shower was the 2nd party I've been involved in in the last 3 weeks. On both occasions very few people RSVP.
Obviously none of these people have ever thrown any kind of party before. Don't they know that accommodations need to be made??? Food, drinks, seating??? DUH PEOPLE!!! Wake up!
It's just really frustrating to host a party and not have a valid idea of the number of guests or have an idea and then have that blown out of the water.
I do know this... I'm done organizing/hosting any parties for a while. I took on more than what I could handle over the last few weeks. Luckily for me everything turned out great and I had wonderful people to stand by my side and help me out.
I could never be a wedding planner or any other kind of party planner. I would end up making a list and you would NOT get in unless you called to RSVP. I wouldn't care who you were or who you knew. HAHA!!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
RSVP:
"Répondez s'il vous plaît", a French phrase that translates to "please respond" and word for word translation is "respond if you please" [1]. It is with this meaning that invitation cards and similar documents are often marked with "R.S.V.P." It is standard practice to reply to an RSVP request whether confirming attendance or declining.

I know I was guilty of not promptly RSVP-ing for Clarice's shower - oops! And I work with you! But I know how you feel. I can remember how on my 10th b-day, my friend never RSVP-ed. So I did not make her a goodie bag. I was so peeved when she showed up b/c I had to adjust the amount of items in the goodie bags so she would have something. The nerve!

I would, (if I ever got invited anywhere) Send me an invite and I'll show you, s'il vous plaît?
Maybe if you made the RSVP available via text messaging?

I'm terrible at RSVPing to, but I try to most of the time. I think I did for Clarice's since you knew I was bringing the cake. You scared me so I'll make sure that I RSVP if you have a party! :o)
