TATTOOS

Everyone has their opinions on tattoos and I respect all of them. Either way, I am a fan. I love them on men and I like to get them myself. However, I do have my rules. With the exception of the one on my foot I can be in shorts and a tank top and you will not see any of them. Also I have none and will not get any on my back because I don't want to be in my wedding dress one day with tattoos showing either. Also they need to have meaning. Each one of mine stands for something or someone special to me.

Last night I went and got my 3rd and 4th. I got Malachi's hand print in red ink on my rib cage and then my sister's and 3 brother's birthdays in roman numerals down my side. This, by far, hurt worse than either of my others.
The one on my foot is the initials B H. They stand for Billy Harcrow. He was engaged to my mom and a great father figure to my sister and me during my high school years. He died out at dumont dunes on Easter Sunday 2001. His sandrail malfunctioned and crashed and unfortunately he didn't make it. So my sister and I honored him with that tattoo. I broke my 'no showing in clothes' rule because I wanted people to ask me about it. I wanted to tell people about him and I wanted to think of him every time I look at it myself.

My first one I got is on my left hip. It is a four leaf clover with the Hungarian crown in the center of it. It also has Ryan as the clover's stem. It represents my Irish-Hungarian background and my grandpa Ryan (aka papa).
Not sure if I'll get any more. I would like to get something for my mom though. We'll see....

OUCHHHHH! I am not a good candidate for a tattoo, the thought of a needle going in and out of my skin for hours just scares the living daylghts out of me. I never have really been a fan but am a great supporter, I have sat beside several friends while they got theirs and I have to agree that I like them so much more if they mean something. I dig the handprint idea, very unique, I have never seen that before. They are only so little for so long, now you will have a little piece of him with you always!

Double OUCHHHHH! You are so brave. I joke about getting one, but I'm not into pain. I love the handprint-what a sweet tribute to your little guy.

Nice tribute & topics for tattoos, better than mine were if we'd found an open tattoo business while in Wash DC before heading off to Vietnam. We were drunk. You're a true Generation X'er.
